Camera selection

Trail cameras are available with a wide variety of features. The primary options to consider are:

  • trigger speed
  • infrared or standard flash
  • digital vs 35 mm
  • tracking information such as time, date, moon phase, temperature etc.
  • communication options

For most people who do not manage deer as a profession a camera with an infrared flash and less than a one second trigger speed should suffice. Several options are availabe that meet these criteria.

The links below are good resources to utilize before purchasing a trail camera.
